Job Summary

Reporting to and under the general direction of the Associate Director of Student Center and Event Operations, the Technical Operations Coordinator provides and coordinates complex projects and overall technical and operational leadership in support for university conference, event and Student Center operations. Technical support includes a variety of audio and visual services including sound, lighting and projection for campus activities and University events at a variety of venues both indoors and outdoors and on and off campus. The incumbent supports high profile events such as graduation celebrations, guest lecture series, orientation and Seawolf Decision Day.

Key Qualifications

This position requires three to four years of experience working for a theater, repertory or stock company engaged in the applicable production specialty such as lighting and/or sound/audio production. This background normally would be achieved through professional training or applicable college coursework and practical experience. Experience serving as a technical director or chief engineer is strongly preferred. Intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite and PeopleSoft preferred. Successful completion of a pre-placement physical is required.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $3,977 to $4,453 a month. This is a full time, non-exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
