Description:
The Department of Theatre Arts is seeking a full-time, permanent Lecturer of Stagecraft to join our faculty starting August 2025.

We seek candidates with a demonstrated ability to teach theatre courses in stagecraft and scenic technology, including student labs in scenic construction, mentor student technicians, and support the scenic build process for departmental productions. This includes the possibility of teaching a section of the core curriculum course "Introduction to Theatre" as needed. The successful candidate will be committed to teaching and mentoring a diverse group of students.

The Lecturer will join a robust team in our scenic area: a tenured Professor of Scenic Design, a Senior Lecturer in Technical Direction, a full-time staff Assistant Technical Director, and a full-time Shop Foreman. The scene shop employs a number of advanced students as work-study assistants as well as students engaged in crew assignments for their required coursework. The entire scenic team is dedicated to excellent teaching and student mentoring.

Regular Lecturer appointments are renewable full-time, benefits-eligible, teaching-focused positions with six-year promotion paths to Senior Lecturer for successful candidates and twelve-year promotion paths to Teaching Professor for highly successful candidates. Qualifications:
  • An advanced degree in the teaching discipline conferred by the start of the appointment is required.
  • MFA degree in Technical Direction, Technical Theatre, or Scenic Design preferred.
  • Two years of professional theatre experience or university teaching experience preferred.
