Elon University's Department of Performing Arts invites applications for a Director-Choreographer in Music Theatre full-time lecturer or tenure-track position depending on professional experiences and educational qualifications beginning mid-August 2023.

Graduate degree in theatre, music theatre, or dance/choreography, is required; we welcome applications from candidates who bring broadly integrated and interdisciplinary perspectives. Successful candidates will demonstrate significant contributions in teaching and directing or choreography at the University and/or professional level. Preference will be given to candidates who provide evidence of knowledge of the canon of Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, Middle Eastern, Pacific Islander, and/or multicultural works in the genre.

Teaching will include directing and/or choreographing mainstage productions, choreographing and teaching within the Dance for the Musical Stage sequence (may include Jazz, Tap, Fosse, and Theatre Dance), and courses in the Elon Core Curriculum. Experience in music theatre scene study, playwrighting, content creation, entrepreneurship, and/or devising is a plus. Other courses relating to the candidate's areas of expertise in music theatre could also be offered. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity are encouraged to identify their experiences in their cover letter.
