Position Summary
Scene Shop Supervisor
The Jeanine Larson Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance
Full-Time; 10-month renewable Professional Staff position

Primary Responsibilities
Each year, between July 15th - May 15th:

Manage the daily operations of the scene shop
Oversee and participate in construction of scenery, stage rigging, sound engineering, electrics, scene painting, and welding
Coordinate or supervise coordination of properties for all main stage productions
Assist in planning and organizing projects
Conduct routine general maintenance, provide upkeep of shop machinery, and provide inventory management
Assist with scenery installations and strikes of all conservatory productions

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma and 7 years professional experience as a carpenter and/or stagehand OR Bachelor's Degree and significant professional experience as a carpenter and/or stagehand
Ability to read construction drawings and interpret scene designers' works
Demonstrated rigging skills
Demonstrated electrical and sound skills
Experience in properties
Experience in various techniques of scene painting
Experience or desire to learn welding
Ability to follow proper usage of equipment and enforce safety standards
Demonstrated supervisory skills
Excellent communication skills with ability and willingness to train students of various levels of proficiency
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong collaboration skills, working with professional staff and faculty
Willingness to work irregular and flexible hours
Ability to adhere to strict production schedule and meet deadlines
Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
